☆ The language of flowers for Karin (Chinese quince)
Effort, Rich and Beautiful, Potential!
☆ Karin has long been known as a tree for good luck with money and business prosperity!
In merchant houses, they planted Karin in the backyard and Kashi (oak) in the front yard to bring good fortune to lending and borrowing money! (As a pun, Kane wa kasu ga, karin meaning I lend money, but I don't borrow.) There is also a theory that Karin is auspicious because its fruits often grow facing the sky!
☆ It is a deciduous broad-leaved tree belonging to the rose family, originating in China, and is said to have been introduced to Japan during the Edo period.
☆ Sufficient sunlight is necessary for good flowering and fruiting.
☆ The fruit is hard and astringent, with a gritty texture, and is not suitable for raw consumption at all. It is mainly enjoyed for its intense sweet fragrance, but Karin liqueur or thinly sliced and air-dried Karin fruit are consumed.
☆ The dried pulp is called Mokkou and was used to treat childhood asthma, along with dried kumquats.
☆ Karin branches grow upwards, so they do not take up much horizontal space, and can be grown even in relatively small gardens.
☆ We will ship with the roots well moisturized!
